The Eugene/Springfield Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Celebration has six volunteer Committee positions open.

Applicants do not need to be members of the LGBT community, only willing and able to work joyfully and productively with community members. Most positions require attendance at one meeting a month, year round.

All positions are expected to be fun, and all committee members back each other up when needed. Please apply if you are interested in hard work, a successful event, and a great time.

  • Mission Statement:

    The Pride Celebration is a social venue for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered members of Lane County, Eugene and Springfield, to advocate for and enjoy our diverse community. While it is primarily a community event, it also exists for families, friends, allies and guests from anywhere in the Northwest.

    Site Coordinator

    Purpose: To assist the Pride Committee in putting the mission statement into action, and to provide support for the event to maintain, grow and change as necessary. To ensure vendor program is run professionally and profitably.

    Responsibilities: Report on progress at each meeting, support other committee members as necessary. Negotiate contracts, maintain positive relationships with vendors and potential vendors. Serve as contact for city, keep receipts and track expenses. Ensure onsite staff is available when city employee arrives at beginning and end of event. Ensure all permits and applications are filed appropriately and that liability insurance is obtained. Schedule event with City park Department. Ensure all committee members understand rules and limitations of site and keys or equipment are returned to proper place. Participate in volunteer orientation and post event wrap-up.

    Requirements: Attend all Pride Committee meetings. Understand site issues and anticipate possible problems. Good communication skills, management skills, organized, excellent follow-through, independent problem solving with professionalism and tact. Commitment to alter-abled accessibility. Must have email and telephone, and be committed to asking for support, if needed, before event suffers.

    Hours: 2 hours/month for meeting +prep time. All day on day of event. Additional hours as necessary, mostly the 60 days prior to the event.

    Provided: Reimbursement of all approved expenses, tag-team support whenever needed, and the love and admiration of the Lane County LGBT community.

    Historian/Archives

    Purpose: To preserve event history

    Responsibilities: Take photos of event and planning process. Collect news and articles about event. Set up and maintain scrapbooks for year. Attend volunteer orientation.

    Requirements: Use of your camera, visual organizational skills

    Provided: Reimbursement for film, processing and approved supplies.

    Recycling Coordinator

    Purpose: To assist the Pride Committee in putting the mission statement into action, and to provide support for the event to maintain, grow and change as necessary. To increase recycling of event refuse and to increase awareness about recycling at event.

    Responsibilities: Plan and implement recycling program for event. Report on progress at each meeting, support other committee members as necessary. Assist with recruitment and supervise recycling volunteers. Assist in long-term planning to increase recycling at celebration. Participate in volunteer orientation and post event wrap-up.

    Requirements: Attend Pride Committee meetings. Knowledge of local area recycling resources. Good communication skills, management skills, organized, excellent follow-through, independent problem solving with professionalism and tact. Must have email and telephone, and be committed to asking for support, if needed, before event suffers.

    Hours: 2 hours/month for meeting +prep time. All day on day of event. Additional hours as necessary, mostly the 60 days prior to the event.

    Perimeter/Security Coordinator

    Purpose: To assist the Pride Committee in putting the mission statement into action, and to provide support for the event to maintain, grow and change as necessary. To increase event revenues through maintenance of fence and event perimeter. To provide leadership for volunteers of perimeter crew.

    Responsibilities: Plan and implement fencing and perimeter staffing for event. Report on progress at each meeting, support other committee members as necessary. Assist with recruitment and supervise perimeter volunteers. Participate in volunteer orientation and post event wrap-up.

    Requirements: Attend Pride Committee meetings. Excellent grasp of potential security issues and an ability to defuse difficult situations gracefully and productively. Good communication skills, people management skills, organized, excellent follow-through, independent problem solving with professionalism and tact. Must have email and telephone, and be committed to asking for support, if needed, before event suffers.

    Hours: 2 hours/month for meeting +prep time. All day on day of event. Additional hours as necessary, mostly the 60 days prior to the event.

    Festival Management Assistant

    Purpose: To assist the Pride Committee in putting the mission statement into action, and to provide support for the event to maintain, grow and change as necessary. To support smooth management of event and to provide backup on key positions.

    Responsibilities: Support festival coordinator and committee members as necessary with clerical, computer, telephone and in-person tasks. Assist with recruitment and supervise recycling volunteers. Assist in long-term planning. Participate in volunteer orientation and post event wrap-up.

    Requirements: Attend Pride Committee meetings. Good communication skills, organized, excellent follow-through, independent problem solving with professionalism and tact. Must have email and telephone, and be committed to asking for support, if needed, before event suffers.

    Hours: 2-4 hours/month for meeting +prep time. All day on day of event. Additional hours as necessary, mostly the 60 days prior to the event.

    Provided: Support from event coordinator, supplies and equipment as needed with committee approval. Some training in overall event management provided. Tag-team support whenever needed, and the love and admiration of the Lane County LGBT community.

    Sponsor Program Coordinator

    Purpose: To assist the Pride Committee in putting the mission statement into action, and to provide support for the event to maintain, grow and change as necessary. To create and maintain mutually profitable relationships with businesses and individuals in the community.

    Responsibilities: Create and implement sponsor program to meet funding goals. Provide sponsors with opportunities to reach LGBT market segment, and provide an opportunity for monetary and in-kind donations. Report on progress at each meeting, support other committee members as necessary. Participate in volunteer orientation and post event wrap-up.

    Requirements: Attend Pride Committee meetings. Ability to maintain positive relationships with sponsors and potential sponsors. Determine submission deadlines to ensure sponsor program is created in timely manner. Determine ad and sponsorship rates and benefits. Maintain accurate sponsor list, pursue new sponsors, collect funds. Make sure each sponsor receives a thank you and a copy of the program. Good communication skills, marketing skills, sales ability, excellent follow-through. Must have email and telephone, and be committed to asking for support, if needed, before event suffers.

    Hours: 2 hours/month for meeting +prep time. 1-2 hours month sponsor contact time. All day on day of event. Additional hours as necessary.
