The first Pride was an uprising led by trans women of color like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. Our annual rally and march keeps our celebration grounded in our activist roots and is important to raise awareness around the injustices and inequalities that continue to face the LGBTQ+ community locally and around the world. It also offers a platform to lobby for and network to create needed change.
